Guest Speaker shows youth the view from out there!

The youth at WellFully were treated to a a discussion about the view from out there... from the point of view of the US Geological Survey's Deep Space Network.

Anya Hartpence is a Solar System Ambassador with the USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) center, which operates the LandSat satellite program with NASA.

Anya's presentation to the youth of WellFully discussed the LandSat satellite system, and how its particular point of view of earth helps everyone from farmers to meteorologists truly see how the earth is progressing.

For 50 years, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration has had a fleet of hundreds of satellites that allow scientists to track global events such as storms, volcanos and wildfires and visually tell the story of specific regions with satellite imagery of before, during and after such a event takes place.

Hartpence commented that she is excited to share with youth her passion of how the satellites can truly help us learn earth's history, and possibly predict her future.
