Congratulations go out to Addiction Recovery/Intensive Outpatient Counselor Amie Hughes for being named WellFully’s December Employee of the Month
Amie joined WellFully in August of 2020 as a Youth Development Specialist (YDS). In 2021 she became a YDS training specialist where she prided herself in being able to teach floor staff to be more effective working with the youth.
Then, after another year and certifying in Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), she accepted the additional duties as Addiction Recovery/Intensive Outpatient Counselor. In this capacity, she now oversees outpatient groups at WellFully and at JSC using the same curriculum to help guide youth to positive change in their addiction recovery.
At the December all-staff meeting, she was recognized for her depiction of success in battling her own struggles, becoming the woman she was meant to be. “Amie shares her story to empower others. She is a person who loves all with unconditional love.” Other nominations noted “She is a person who loves all with unconditional love… I look up to her for these reasons.”
Amie says that she was raised in dysfunction and abuse. Surviving this has helped me help others “using my experience, strength and hope to show others recovery is possible.” She notes that her success is inspired by Clinical Coordinator Felicia Swallow’s when she stepped up to take a more leadership role and rocked it! “Felicia has empowered me to empower others.”
When it comes to working with the kids, she says “I use my experience strength and hope to show others recovery is possible.” She also notes the WellFully staff and youth alike should always remember that “You are worthy of love and support!”
